Robert Colucci, Chairman of the Board
Robert Colucci began his career with Essilor in 1989 as Director of Sales for Varilux Corporation. He was promoted to Vice President of Sales in early 1991 and had an active role over the years in the rapid growth of the Varilux product line. In 1996, Essilor Lenses reorganized into distinct business units focusing on unique customer segments, and Mr. Colucci was appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager Wholesale Group. Mr. Colucci assumed the position of Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Essilor Labs in 1999, and in October of 2004, he was named president of the Independent Distribution Division. Additionally, in January 2012, Mr. Colucci became the chairman of the Essilor Vision Foundation.
Patrick Esquerré, Member
For many years, Patrick Esquerré has been involved in a variety of non-profit, community-based initiatives. He has also been an active fundraiser for the Public Broadcasting Service and its partner, National Public Radio, in twelve cities across the country, for which he received the PBS Humanitarian award in 1990. He founded the popular La Madeleine Bakery and Café in Dallas and expanded it to 65 restaurants across the southern U.S. before selling the company. Recently, Mr. Esquerré has been engaged by La Madeleine to serve a role as Founder, Special Advisor and Ambassador for the La Madeleine family. He received the Inc. Magazine Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1993 in recognition of his community involvements, and the Savor Dallas Texas Spirit award in 2010. Mr. Esquerré continues to play a major role in developing the Kids Vision for Life program and building relationships in the community.
Tony Fleo, Member
Tony is a proven leader in the area of organizational development with twenty-five years experience in helping communities, organizations and individuals in leadership development, effective communication, and establishing mission within a company, community, or family environment. His training clients include several Fortune 500 companies. He is a respected community leader able to build coalitions, and has served as a lecturer, teacher, therapist, executive coach, and organizational consultant. He has presented workshops and keynote addresses at regional, national, and international conferences and workshops in the areas of leadership, organizational systems, community and relationships. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in psychology from Duquesne University.
Susan Hoff, Member
Susan Hoff is a native of Midland, Texas. She earned a degree in bilingual/bicultural education from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and completed graduate work in early childhood education at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and postgraduate work in public administration and policy analysis at the University of Texas at Dallas. In early 2009 she joined United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. Prior to joining the United Way of Essilor Vision Foundation List of Officers & Directors Metropolitan Dallas team in 2009, she was the CEO and President of ChildCareGroup, a Dallas based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, delivering and expanding the best child care services available outside the home. She worked in several other nonprofit organizations including Educational First Steps, Good Shepherd Community Center, and Rainbow Days. Ms. Hoff is the Board Chair for First3Years, serves on the boards of Texas Partnership for Out of School Time (TXPOST) and Texans Care for Children, and is a past president of the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children. She was appointed by Mayor Mike Rawlings to the board of Workforce Solutions Dallas County in 2012 and 2015. She is the founding board chair of the Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition (TECEC) and served as a member of the advisory board of the Texas Early Care and Education Career Development System, served on the Board of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and is a past board chair of the Social Venture Partners Dallas and the Jr. League of Richardson.
Eric Leonard, Member
Eric Leonard is President of Essilor of America, Inc. Eric started at Essilor in 2002 as Chief Procurement Officer. Most recently, he held the role of President, European Zone where he was responsible for all European countries. Prior to Essilor, he worked for BCG Consulting and Peugeot.
David Milan, Secretary
David Milan joined Essilor in 2000 as General Counsel and Vice President of Legal. Milan has responsibility for the Essilor of America legal department, which provides internal legal services for all of the Essilor of America affiliated entities in the United States.
Prior to Essilor, Milan was a trial lawyer with Dallas-based Winstead, Sechrest and Minick, P.C., as well as serving as in-house counsel to Snelling Personnel Services and Pearle Vision, Inc. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin and his Juris Doctorate degree from Texas Tech University.
M. Kathleen Murphy, Member
Ms. Murphy has been a volunteer for the National Center for Children’s Vision & Eye Health (NCCVEH) for more than 10 years. She has had an extensive career working on school and public health issues, particularly among underserved communities. She worked internationally improving administration through leadership in rural health posts. More recently she served as director of the NCCVEH Advisory Committee, and is still a member of the committee. As a past director of this committee she would have played a large role in advocating for comprehensive policies in pediatric eye care, including early detection for vision problems and providing evidence-based best practices in vision screenings for young children. She is an instructor at the University Of Texas Medical Branch School Of Nursing. She has taught numerous classes in leadership, health policy, and Scholarly Practice. In addition, as a part of the Executive Nurse Essilor Vision Foundation List of Officers & Directors Leader program she used innovative didactic and experiential learning, mentorship, and communication strategies in order to facilitate the professional development of nurse leaders. In 2009, Ms. Murphy was awarded a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Murphy has received awards and honors including selection as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow, and holds the Alice Ostermayer Stubblefield Professorship in Nursing. She is also a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Nurses Association, and numerous other nursing societies.
Kevin Rupp, Member & Treasurer
Kevin Rupp joined the team in 2000 as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration. During his career at Essilor, Mr. Rupp has implemented a shared service organization for the administrative functions of the company, which has included an enterprise wide systems implementation to provide full administrative services to all operating business units from a central shared service organization. Mr. Rupp has also headed the company’s acquisition efforts, and he is responsible for Essilor’s polarized lens business. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Rupp received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Houston. Prior to joining Essilor, he was employed in the energy industry for more than 20 years with Arco, Fina and TotalFina.
Joel Shannon, Member
Joel Shannon and his wife, Margaret, at the request of the City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services, helped initiate a program to provide eyewear to Houston area schoolchildren who otherwise would go without. Mr. Shannon is a retired commercial real estate attorney and has been involved in the start-up or expansion of several non-profit organizations in the education, healthcare and human needs areas. Through the coordinated efforts with local schools and school districts, thousands of school children have been screened in the second year of Houston’s Kids Vision for Life program (the 2012-13 academic year). Over 12,000 children have received eye exams resulting in quality prescription eyewear being given to 10,000+ children.
Kimberly Schuy, President
Kim Schuy assumed the role of President of Essilor Vision Foundation in January 2016. She brings extensive expertise in vision care, most recently as Vice President of Global Marketing for Essilor of America where she developed an innovative pipeline, increased regional growth efforts and developed branding and portfolio strategies. During her career she led consumer brand teams at Essilor, Alcon Laboratories and Procter & Gamble where she managed marketing efforts and forged partnerships to penetrate and expand target markets. She holds an undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin Red McCombs School of Business and a graduate degree in business from the acclaimed University of Pennsylvania The Wharton School.
